How to Furnish a B&B
Isa Project's intervention for La Terrazza sul Duomo in Florence
A welcoming and familiar atmosphere
The furnishing of a Bed & Breakfast should have as a basic principle the creation of a welcoming environment for guests. This starts from the furniture and the choice of colors for the rooms. All of this without forgetting to optimize the spaces as best as possible.
Those who choose to stay in a B&B often do so not just to save money, but to feel in a welcoming and familiar environment, less impersonal than a hotel room can be.
Therefore, the colors and shapes of the furnishings, the right photos and paintings hanging on the walls, well-designed lighting, and a tailored division of spaces can lead to success in the business of hospitality.
Furnishing a B&B: Balancing Attention to Detail with Originality
Choosing distinctive furnishings and enhancing the spaces and rooms in a distinct way to differentiate them and give each one a unique and original touch. This is because even with the spaces and their furnishings, stories can be told, which in the case of a B&B can have a common thread and a complete sense as a whole.
To differentiate the structure from other offerings on the market, one might consider including in the furnishing project features such as whirlpool baths, sensory showers, fireplaces, comfortable cribs, king-size beds, and so on.
FURNISHING TRENDS: MODERN VICTORIAN STYLE
The Victorian style, a furnishing trend typical of English homes of the late 19th century, can be reinterpreted in a modern key. This style is characterized by the sinuous and elaborate shapes of the furnishings, with precious details in gold leaf and inlaid furniture, with bright colors and strong chromatic contrasts (such as white and blue). Therefore, choices fall on canopy beds paired with light fabrics, beds with inlaid headboards or damasked upholstery, and intricately decorated tables.
In the bathroom, the centerpiece is the tub, strictly white, with lion's paw supports. And then, it's the little details that make the difference: ceramic accessories, porcelain sets, gilded antique clocks, and, why not, Persian rugs.
The example of the B&B La Terrazza sul Duomo
La Terrazza sul Duomo is a luxury Bed & Breakfast located in a historic building in the center of Florence (at 3 Via Roma), just a few steps from the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. While the location certainly plays an important role, the interior furnishings and room design must also meet the expectations of the clientele. In the case of La Terrazza sul Duomo, nothing has been left to chance. All rooms and suites are furnished in a modern Victorian style, with silver, blue, purple, and gold tones. They are equipped with private bathrooms with showers and all modern comforts. What makes the location exclusive is the terrace located on the top floor of the nineteenth-century building, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Piazza Duomo and the entire city.
